The urban vinyl toy movement had blown big since a while. And beneath the collectors there is also a growing community of creative painters and sculpteurs using vinyl toys as their playground. It seems that the Teddy Trooper platform toy has been accepted pretty well within the scene. Happy times! :-)
I got sent in a lot of great and amazing custom Teddy Troops frequently. I am posting them all on the specially dedicated website TeddyTroops.net to give an overview on all the artworks.

"The Monster Within" show @ Giant Robot / LA

I customized one of Buffmonster's vinyl toys for the upcoming group show "The Monster Within" at the Giant Robot Gallery&Store in Los Angeles. Opening will be on July 10th 2010 / 6.30 to 10 pm.

TURMKUNST / Designer Toy

We got in the first shots of the prototypes of the upcoming TURMKUNST toy. The figure is about 25 cm tal and there will be these 3 designs by HONET, SOZYONE and Flying Förtress. Toy design and concept by Flying Förtress. You can create your own tower toy by mixing the head elements within each figure or mix all 3 designs together. More infos about where to get them soon!

"Death Warmed Over" @ Fresthetic / Brooklyn NY

My friends from RobotsWillKill are having a group show coming up at the Fresthetic Gallery in Brooklyn NY. Here are all infos:

On Friday, June 25th, death will come knocking on the door of Williamsburg's Fresthetic, with the opening of Cake, Chris RWK, Veng, Luna Park, and Becki Fuller's show "Death Warmed Over". Through their paintings and photography, each artist has embarked on an exploration into the many nuances to be found in the meaning of "death" and have incorporated their unique interpretations into their art. For some, death is found in the decay & destruction what was once fresh and new or in the struggles with the demons that plague and sometimes consume us. For others it can be found in cultural practices, such as the festivities of Halloween, the spiritual relationship between the Native American warrior and their prey, or taking a closer look at life in Mexico, a country who's intimacy with death permeates their culture.

The show runs from June 25th - July 30th, with an opening reception on Friday, June 25th from 7-10pm. There will be an art scavenger hunt, live painting in the back yard, and while we may be morbid, we aren't cheap, so the drinks are on us! So, come shake your bones to the musical styling's of our favorite DJ Royce Bannon and have a time so good that it will haunt your memory for years to come!

Biggest Teddy Trooper ever

Finally after 6 weeks we finished the TURMKUNST project in Berlin. HONET, SOZYONE, Craig KR Costello and me turned the whole "Bierpinsel" tower in Berlin-Steglitz into a big masked head. Now the biggest Teddy Trooper ever is watching over the Berlin skyline. Size? 3 inch? 10 inch? No, it is 160 ft (50 meters) high. It was a huge and intense project. Thanx to the whole team and big shout-outs to Honet and Sozyone for putting all the energy together to fight the battle of the "Turmzilla"!

15.000 AND UP / Show

I am taking part in a project about setting up the biggest sticker collage. Read the infos about it below. You are welcome to participate and send in your stickers!

15000 And Up is a project in which the goal is to collect 15,000 or more stickers from artists from all over the world. Once the goal is accomplished, all of the adhesives and stickers will be transported to Russia, Barnaul. Then a large sticker collage will be made out of all the stickers, which will make the world's biggest sticker collage/ combo.
Important: The Deadline for your stickers to get here is June 30th, please send your submissions early enough for them to get here on, or before the deadline, or they wont make it on the show.

Bits'n'bobs from last weekend

I took 2 days off from the Turmkunst project in Berlin. Visiting my brother and meeting up with friends from the north and the south to have a mad partying and painting weekend... will post the full pieces as soon as i have some spare time to get through all of them...
